How Are Panoramic X-rays Taken?
Dr. Palmer and Dr. Smalkoski utilize panoramic x-ray technology for a variety of reasons. Panoramic x-rays provide ear-to-ear two-dimensional views of the upper and lower jaw. The Panorex® equipment utilized at Creating Beautiful Smiles consists of a rotating arm that holds the x-ray generator and a moving film attachment that holds the images. Your head will be positioned between these two devices and the x-ray generator moves around your head to take the images. This noninvasive technology is useful for patients with a sensitive gag reflex who don't react well to traditional bitewing x-rays. Panoramic x-rays take only a few minutes, and your dentist will be able to show you any abnormalities and go over treatment options almost immediately after the images are captured.
